Roxy

This is Roxy. I'd like to say that we adopted her but it was more the other way around! We found her roaming around the house on the weekend and discovered that she was about to be returned to the local animal rescue centre. She's been with us ever since and has no intention of leaving. You can see more Roxy photographs here

Newport Transporter Bridge

This famous transporter bridge in Newport, South Wales, was opened on 12 September 1906 by Lord Tredegar. It is based on a French design for a 'Transbordeur' and is a combination of a bridge and Ferry. The bridge was constructed to provide a second crossing of the rived USK at Newport to assist in the transportation of goods from the busy port.It was closed in 1985 as it was deemed unsafe. However, a refurbishment project which started in1992 has resulted in the bridge reopening and it is now one of only two similar working transporter bridges in the UK.

Night lights

Light trails are easy and fun to create and, if you have a digital camera, are a great way to keep the kids occupied in the car. Just point the camera at the lights and open the shutter for 4-10 seconds. The car's movement will leave fantastic trails of light. Experiment with different exposures and moving the camera to create wonderfully random light images.

Cardiff Bay

Cardiff Bay is such a happening place these days. A multi billion pound regeneration programme has transformed the old dock area into a lavish centre for the arts, culture, wining and dining. The centre piece is the new Millennium Centre with an intriguing, inversed, mirrored water fountain. Perfectly convex and reflective, it's (almost) impossible to stand in front of it without seeing your reflection. If you get a chance to visit, see if you can work it out!

SA1

I was down in Swansea, South Wales, the other day. This is the bridge at SA1, crossing from the marina to the redeveloping commercial area. Originally docks storage, it's rapidly becoming an area for high-tech businesses. For more images, please visit my swansea images album

getting started

Hi there, I've been a super keen amateur photographer since my early teenage days - back in the days of mechanical focal plane shutters and darkrooms. Notice that I didn't say the 'good old days', I'm now fully digital and have been since the early days of digital SLR's. Time depending, I'd love to publish here regularly. So keep and eye out!
